Choose the Right Record Holder
Match the question to the office or system that controls the record:
- For a current Clay County Jail status, use the sheriff’s official Inmate Search or call the sheriff.
- For a booking photo, arrest report, or missing older booking record, follow the FOIA route described on the Clay County arrest hub.
- For a newly reported arrest, check the current roster and sheriff Recent News; neither is a guaranteed list of every arrest in a fixed daily window.
- For release or transfer alerts about one person, use Illinois VINELink from the matching roster card.
- For a court outcome, contact the Circuit Clerk rather than treating a booking charge as a conviction.
- For state prison or parole information, use the Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search.
- For federal prison or immigration custody, use the separate BOP or ICE locator.
Flora Police has its own municipal records-request route for Flora incidents. Louisville and Clay City did not have a verified current police FOIA form in the research, so begin with the village clerk and ask who presently serves as records custodian. A city incident may still lead to booking at Clay County Jail in Louisville.
