Why This Reference Exists
Illinois law makes some arrest and booking information public, but no single database tells the full story. The Clay County Sheriff creates county jail booking records and operates the current inmate roster. That roster can display a name, photograph, alleged charges, and a route to VINELink alerts. The Clay County Circuit Clerk holds the later court trail. The Illinois Department of Corrections publishes information for people in state prison or on parole, not ordinary county pretrial bookings. Sheriff and municipal records requests cover releasable material that is not shown online.
We organize these official sources, explain their limits, and identify the proper request routes. A current-custody card is not a historical arrest archive, and a booking charge is not a conviction. No mugshot is copied into a gallery here.
Information Available Here
The content is arranged around the actual Clay County record system:
- The county arrest hub explains the official roster, booking records, photos, warrants, correction law, and older-record path.
- The same-day and multi-day pages distinguish the live roster from the sheriff’s selective Recent News feed.
- The VINELink page explains person-specific custody checks and release or transfer alerts.
- City pages cover Flora, Louisville, and Clay City while keeping arrest location separate from county-jail booking.
- Records guidance shows how to request an arrest report or booking photo and how to check the court disposition.
Limits of This Service
Clay County Recent Arrests is privately run. It is not connected with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Jail, Illinois Department of Corrections, a court, or any other government agency.
- We cannot confirm custody, release, or transfer a person.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds.
- We cannot obtain an official record on someone’s behalf.
- We do not give legal advice or decide eligibility for record relief.
- We cannot promise that an office’s hours, fees, or contact details have not changed.
Only the responsible sheriff, jail, corrections agency, or court can confirm current status, charges, release, and case disposition. This site points to those official sources.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search tools supplied by outside providers. Those providers control their own databases, prices, subscriptions, and results. If a search leads to a paid signup, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference pages available, but it does not change the order or treatment of official Clay County sources. We do not set a partner’s fees and cannot guarantee its records.
